THE GIVING SQUARE
Community
Partners
We are proud to have partnered with the following organizations to collaborate around strategy, design and execution, as well as pro-bono support. The Giving Square could not have grown to what it is today without our community!
Past Grantees
As part of our Kids for Kids Fund program, 3-5th graders have the responsibility to give away $1,000 to a local, kid-serving non-profit organization. Here are the organizations that they have chosen.
Brand Justice
Mission: “Brand Justice works to incorporate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging into the foundation of a brand’s identity. This builds stronger brand loyalty, provides a more diverse customer base, and allows brands to grow with the times.”
Shared Purpose: Together, we can build a more just and equitable world.
Spur Local
Mission: At Spur Local, strengthening communities is our life’s work. As the region’s only locally-focused guide to civic engagement, we believe in the power of small nonprofits to spark big change together.
Shared Purpose: We want more people to know and support the great work of local non-profits.
Do Good Institute
Mission: The Do Good institute inspires and equips Terps to apply their passions and ideas to make a positive impact, now. The Institute, housed in the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, provides education, opportunities, and resources to develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders, social innovators, and civic-minded students.
Shared Purpose: We believe that children and young adults have much to contribute, when empowered with support and opportunities.
Linkages to Learning
Mission: “Linkages to Learning is a community school partnership with an integrated focus on health, social services, community engagement and leadership to support student learning, strong families, and healthy communities. Linkages to Learning assists students and their families by providing or connecting them to services and resources that address the social, economic, health, and emotional issues that may interfere with student success.”
Shared Purpose: We are addressing the civic empowerment gap and recognize that all children can be active contributors to their community.
Politics and Prose Bookstore
Mission: Politics and Prose is a D.C. based business devoted to cultivating community and strengthening the common good through books, programs, and respectful exchange of ideas. We’re committed to exceptional customer service and to the values of independence, inclusion, and diversity.
Shared purpose: We see the power of books and personal narratives as critical tools for empathy building.
Rothschild Foundations
Mission: Supporting causes that make the world a better place. The family has long had a deep commitment to addressing the root causes of all forms of inequality, and focuses on organizations that support educational opportunities, community well-being, and the arts.
Shared Purpose: We believe that when young children have a direct experience in understanding and supporting those in need collaboratively, they experience the fulfillment of civic engagement which brings with it empowerment, resilience, and the joy of helping others. “I AM A PHILANTHROPIST!”
Serimus Foundation
Mission: We provide opportunities for children and their families to develop skills and knowledge that will enrich and expand their lives beyond the boundaries of poverty or adversity.
Shared Purpose: We believe that all children should have opportunities to grow, develop, and contribute to their community.
YMCA Youth and Family Services
Mission: YMCA Youth and Family Services offers “programs for youth and families affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences” that create safety, trust and connection in communities across Montgomery County, MD. The programs provide “young people with unique exposure to opportunity and challenge as part of their development.”
Shared purpose: We are addressing the civic empowerment gap and recognize that all children can be active contributors to their community.
